Grammatically Correct Photo Captions
In celebration of National Grammar day, I direct you to an extremely interesting article, How To Write Grammatically Correct Photo Captions. (National Grammar Day is brought to you by The Society For The Promotion Of Good Grammar.)

I agree with those who said in the comments to that article that the order of names in the list of people in a caption should go from left to right. If the end result is "Me and Bobby McGee" so be it. (Unless, of course, you happen to be captioning the photograph in Hebrew, or another language which goes from right to left.)
But to avoid the I/Me issue, one should use their name...so future generations aren't left guessing who I/me is.
You are so correct that the order of identification should be the order of those in the photograph (L-R). In her defense, it was captioning grammar and not identification that was the impetus of the creation of this article. Specifically I versus Me. National Grammar Day, in social media.
You have no idea how many photos I have that say "Me," or "My Mom." So who are you? Why you're "Me and Bobby McGee."
Always identify Me and My Mom, etc. Good call.
