I Owe You One
The post on Lillian Russell was to appear today, but something happened.
The sun is shining in Washington. I can't remember the last time I saw the sun for more than five minutes. It's absolutely beautiful!
So I am going outside and spending the entire day in it. I leave you with this small sketch from the December 29, 1916 edition of the Amateur Photographer's Weekly:

So I am going outside and spending the entire day in it. I leave you with this small sketch from the December 29, 1916 edition of the Amateur Photographer's Weekly:
“As photography has been absolutely forbidden in the Isle of Wight for a long time, a certain photographer was particularly pleased to obtain a permit allowing him to operate anywhere, provided it was not within four miles of the coast. When he made a start, his triumphant delight fell off in large heavy chunks, as the average width of the island is only just over six miles. When he laboriously tramped inland for the specified four miles, he found himself within two miles of the sea on the other side and when he retreated a couple of miles to dodge that, he found himself in the same position reversed. It is just one of those brutal jokes so dear to the bovine official mind.
